Success Story: Clean-C Beach Cleanup
On a crisp Saturday morning, Brownie Points, in partnership with Clean-C and Slinky the Dachshund, took to Blouberg Beach for a clean day of fun. We were joined by a large group of volunteers, rubbish bags in hand, to pick up every piece of man-made litter from the sand.
On the first Saturday of each month Clean-C gathers community members and kind-hearted folk with a moment to spare, to share their morning cleaning beaches in the Cape Town area.
The clean-up held this past Saturday, 2 December, was particularly successful! 9 Clean-ups were held (8 Beach Cleanups and one Community Cleanup in Joe Slovo Park), 2 schools got involved and 117 bags of litter were filled, totaling an estimated average weight of 760kgs!
In the last four years, Clean-C has helped remove over 100 tons of rubbish off our beaches and in communities around Cape Town.
Clean-C is an NPO of enthusiastic do-gooders who are passionate about South Africa and creating opportunities for our people to develop and grow. Among the various upliftment projects that they host each month, the Beach Cleanups help increase awareness for Clean-C and create a means for everyone from the adults to the kids and even the family dog to get involved.
“The only thing that you really need is a smile, bottle of water, a hat, maybe some sunscreen if the sun’s out, especially for the kids, we give you everything else” – Greg Player, Clean-C Director.
Clean-C is on a noble mission to generate opportunities through entrepreneurship, create sustainable employment to enrich, educate, empower and inspire. Their aim is to uplift communities to be free from crime, enabling them to live with mutual respect and dignity and to realise their dreams.
